Experience

2024

Summer Fellow - Center for Socially Engaged Design (CSED)

Explored how spaces residing within the zoos, museums, and recreational spaces sector view, prioritize, and manage accessibility. As a team, we conducted field research at various spaces within this sector across Michigan and Ohio, recording observations and interviews with staff. This lead to the creation of an accessibility self-assessment, an online tool that helps jumpstart conversations around accessibility for those with sensory sensitivities. This project concluded with an Equitable Design Guide, a compilation of best practices when it comes to equitable design for the sensory sensitive community.

2023 - 2024

Administrative Assistant - Integrative Systems + Design

Developed and maintained a content calendar for the University of Michigan’s ISD department for LinkedIn, Instagram, and website. Conducted interviews with current students and leaders across the Engineering industry, as well as informational seminars for incoming students.

2023 - 2024

Research Assistant - EMBER Lab

Explored how injustices in our engineering design process may translate into injustices in our design outcomes. Read more about EMBER Lab.

2023

Assistant Teacher - AppleTree & Gilden Woods Daycare

Developed individualized curriculum and support plans for students ranging from newborn to 14 years old and led STEM-based lessons to help introduce topics to students of all ages and integrated activities to support child developmental skill-building.

2023

Segmentation Technician - Stryker

Reviewed and process CT scan data to generate custom 3D models of hip and knee joints for pre-operative surgical plans for Stryker’s MAKO Robotic total hip and knee arthroplasty. Responsible for further reviewing plans for the landmarking and sizing of implants, as well as uploading the final plan to an international database and properly documenting the entire process.

2021 - 2022

Research Assistant - Alma College Physics Department

Researched soft-lithography methods to identify optimal fabrication methods for optical devices using a polymer (PDMS) and photoresistor (SU-8) to develop a “lab-on-chip” micromachine spanning less than half an inch wide through financially accessible production methods that allows a user to detect pollutants in water. The preliminary findings were presented to leaders in the field of Optics and Engineering at the National Frontiers in Optics and Laser Science conference in Rochester, New York.

This project was then published in June of 2024 in Micromachines.

2019 - 2021

Teaching Assistant - Alma College Physics Department

Responsible for the grading of weekly homework for Alma’s Introduction to Physics 1 & 2 courses. Maintained contact with students reaching out for help or with questions, as well as with the professor.
